President-elect William Ruto has been congratulated by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli after the Supreme Court validated his victory in the General Election of August 9.
The supporter of Azimio la Umoja expressed respect for the Supreme Court’s ruling on social media on Monday and advised Kenyans to maintain their composure going forward.
Taking to his twitter handle, Atwoli said, “During COTU (K) Executive Board meeting on 17th August, we resolved THAT immediately after the Supreme Court judgement, we must thank and congratulate the victor. Consequently, we congratulate President William Ruto. We appeal to workers and Kenyans in general to remain peaceful.”
All claims contesting the declaration of President-elect William Ruto were rejected during the ruling which was delivered by Chief Justice Martha Koome on Monday. This decision established that there was no substantial evidence presented to the court to support the claim that the Independent Electoral and Independent Commission (IEBC) fraudulently conducted the elections.
The petitioners led by Raila Odinga and Martha Karua were found to lack a strong case against the IEBC and President-elect William Ruto by CJ Koome.
