The relationship between the President and Anc leader Musalia Mudavadi is far from the best with both leaders accusing each other of betrayal in recent days. President Kenyatta was reportedly unhappy with Mudavadi after he decided to team up with Deputy President William Ruto.
According to initial reports, the President was keen to see Mudavadi work with ODM leader Raila Odinga instead of Ruto. He tried to convince Mudavadi to join Raila’s camp for several months but he did not succeed.
Mudavadi on his part was reportedly Angered by Uhuru’s decision to back ODM leader Raila Odinga instead of him. Uhuru had reportedly promised to support him but failed to keep his word.
It has now emerged that Uhuru had identified Mudavadi as Raila’s Deputy in 2022. According to Former Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, Uhuru recently told western Kenya MPs that he had reserved the Deputy President position for Mudavadi.
Echesa advised Uhuru to give the Deputy President’s position to one of the western Kenya leaders who agreed to join Azimio la Umoja.
